A devotion: Scattered Seeds and Pruning Life

Here is a draft of the devotion based on your blog post:

"Scattered Seeds and Pruning Life"

Scripture: "Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds." – John 12:24 (NIV)

Story:
There’s a season in every garden when pruning is necessary. Branches that once bloomed are cut back, not because they failed, but because their time has passed. In life, we often hold on tightly to people, jobs, or dreams that no longer bring growth. I once poured my heart into places where I felt unseen—working beyond my role, creating, supporting, showing up. But the blossoms of recognition never came. It felt like loss. It felt like failure.

But then, I noticed something—the light wasn’t coming from where I had been standing. It was ahead of me, leading me to new soil, new seeds, and new blooms. What felt like an ending was, in truth, a planting.

Moral:
Letting go isn’t losing—it’s making room. When God prunes a branch, it’s not to leave you bare but to help you bloom more beautifully in the next season.

Advice:

  • Look for the Light: When doors close, ask where the light is shining. What is God calling you toward?
  • Trust the Pruning Process: Letting go of something that no longer grows you isn’t failure—it’s faith.
  • Be Patient with Your Seeds: Growth happens underground long before you see the flowers.

Prayer:
Lord, help me trust You when it’s time to let go. Give me faith to release what no longer bears fruit and eyes to see where Your light is leading me. In every season—planting, pruning, or blooming—let me rest in Your promise that new life is always coming. Amen.
